Coco the Nut

We have a lot of adjectives to describe our little Coconut. First we have Coco the Fugitive. Then there’s Coco the Wonder Dog. And even Coco the King. Coco weighs about 15 pounds. So you know that means? He thinks he’s all that and then some!

We’ve now added a new moniker, Coco the Nut! There’s lots of reasons he deserves this title. My favorite is how he sits by the side of the couch staring at us as if he’s seeking the meaning of life.

At least that’s what it looked like to me. Now I think he was just imploring us to let him join us on the couch.

We have a rule in our house: dogs don’t get on the furniture. Have you seen what dogs roll in when they get outside?

But things change when we visit Shawn’s parents. Some rules are lifted for both kids and dogs when grandparents are around. That means when we’re with grandma, Coco gets on the couch.

He doesn’t miss a beat in it either. He’s completely in his element taking that spot on the couch. So that’s why I now call him Coco the Nut.

Now when he stares at me in the evening, I know what he’s after.

I just tell him, “Wait until we’re with your grandma again.”

  1. LOL Marly!!! Coco is a super-cutie!!! Am afraid I’m a softie and if he was looking at me w/those eyes and that face . . . well, t’would be all over . . . he’d be called, ‘Coco-the-Ruler’!

  2. What a cutie! I almost always let my pets on the furniture. Even though my cat tracks cat litter everywhere and my dog occasionally has a flea on him. I can’t resist!

Who possibly could that “grandma” be?? How adorable…how could you not want him on your lap!

You’re right!! You should see how hopeful Coco is when he looks up at us sitting on the couch. Can you talk to your son for me??

  4. Oh Marly, lol! Kisses (my Lhasa Poo) has a permanent spot at our house, curled up with me on the couch at all times. Aren’t our furry little friends so amazing. I’ll tell you if I didn’t have this little sweetie I don’t know how I would have made it through when my husband passed. She always knew when I needed a little cuddle or too. They are so intuitive. I will say she rules the house and lab, Sako (what a great dog!) allows her free reign.

  5. Coco is a cutie! We don’t currently have a dog, but I didn’t let our previous dog on the couch or bed for exactly the same reason! ;-)

Yes, all the rules are off at Grandma’s house, whether it’s grandkids or fur grandkids.

Shhh, I don’t want Coco to hear you say that. He’s full of himself as it is! But between you and me? You’re so right!
