Andrea’s Art

Andrea shares thoughts about her name on Namely Marly's The Name Project.

My new series is called The Name Project, where I do in-person, brief interviews about peoples' names along with my photograph of them. Names are my inspiration and I hope to share with you photographs of a variety of people and some fun stories about their names.

Today's interview is with Andrea. Everyone should be so lucky to have an Andrea in their life, especially this one. She likes to call a spade a spade, so to speak, which is not an uncommon trait for people sharing this name. Roy Feinson says that Andrea's, "consider themselves to be realists (rather than pessimists) who are simply being candid about the state of the world...they feel it is their duty to tell the truth."

Andrea's truth? Names just are what they are!

The Vegan New Luther Sandwich – America’s Top 10 New Sandwiches Veganized

The Vegan New Luther Sandwich features a Mapled Donut Bun by Ashley at Never Homemaker.

Today’s recipe, Sandwich No. 1, is allowing us to end this series with a bang! Endless Simmer said it best when describing this sandwich in the original post, “It takes some chutzpa to reinvent what...has already called the best drunk food in America.” And there was definitely a little chutzpa in veganizing it as well. Soulful singer Luther Vandross allegedly created the original sandwich and spirited Ashley McLaughlin of NeverHomemaker was more than happy to veganize it. A pecan-topped, maple-encrusted donut bun is cut in half and filled with a chickpea burger and wedges of smoked applewood "bacon."

Brussels Sprout Sandwich – America’s Top 10 New Sandwiches Veganized

A Brussels Sprout Sandwich with Apple Slaw and Red Pepper Hummus.

Today’s recipe, the Brussels Sprout Sandwich, was prepared and photographed by yours truly. Although simple in ingredients, it was a bit tricky to figure out how to get the sprouts to cooperate. They had a tendency to want to slip off the sandwich which is why I coaxed them to stay in place by adding some of our favorite hummus. The end result was a deliciously-flavored sandwich chock-full of healthy veggies. A venerable vegan delight!

A Woman Named Quincie

The Name Project by Marly featuring today's guest Quincie

I’m constantly meeting people with names. I wonder why that is. And oftentimes I find myself meeting people with names I find really intriguing. Well, usually, that’s most of the time, because I really love names. It’s why I started my name interview series, Namely People. But recently I was inspired to start a new series of interviews. I’m calling it The Name Project, a new venture on the Namely Marly site where I do in-person interviews, featuring my photographs of the people I’m interviewing. And the final distinguishing factor? The Name Project interviews are brief. Today's Name Project Interview is with a woman named Quincie. What a way to start off a new series!

America’s Top 10 New Sandwiches Veganized – The Lasagna Bolognese

Mandi of Chic Vegan has made a vegan version of the Lasagna Bolognese sandwich for the Namely Marly site.

The Lasagna Bolognese Sandwich is Sandwich No. 3. Riddled with thin layers of marinated, lightly breaded and fried pasta, this sandwich soon became a new target for our Vegan team. It was a challenge to veganize this sandwich which boasted "a doughy roll joined by sweet peppers, smoked mozzarella and sharp provolone." Lucky for us, one member of our team was up for the task. Grab a napkin and a hearty appetite and click on to see the recipe.
